Request deletion of Discova data without deleting your account
This page explains how users of the Discova app can request that some or all of their data is deleted while keeping their Discova account. You can delete many items in the app, or email us to request a broader deletion.
To close the account itself, use Request deletion of your Discova account and data instead.
How to delete data in the Discova app
- Open the Discova app and sign in.
- To delete a food or symptom log: open the Diary tab, find the entry, swipe it, and tap Delete.
- To change or clear profile details (name, age, diet, health conditions, custom symptoms, or notification preferences): open Profile and edit those fields.
- To remove your profile photo: open Profile and delete the photo.
- To remove a custom food or recipe you created: open it from food logging, tap Edit, then Delete this food or Delete this recipe.
How to request data deletion by email
Use this option to delete some or all stored data without closing your account, or if you cannot use the in-app steps.
- Email jaden.discova@gmail.com from the address on your Discova account when possible.
- Use a subject such as Delete Discova data.
- Include the email address used to sign in, and say that you want data deleted without deleting your account.
- Tell us which data to delete. You can request some data (for example specific logs or your profile photo) or all logs and profile content while keeping the account.
- We may ask you to confirm the request. After we verify it, we delete the data you specified.
What data can be deleted while keeping your account
- Food logs, symptom logs, journal notes, and related timestamps
- Calculated insights and calendar or logging-consistency records derived from those logs
- Optional profile photos and food photos stored for your account
- Profile fields you entered, such as name, age, dietary preferences, health conditions, and custom symptom labels
- Custom foods or recipes you created for the shared catalog, if you ask us to remove them
What data is kept if you do not delete your account
- Your Discova sign-in account, email address, and authentication identifiers, so you can keep using the app
- Any logs, photos, or profile fields you did not ask us to delete
- Payment and subscription records held by Google Play, Apple, or Stripe, as required for tax, fraud prevention, accounting, or legal obligations. Discova does not store full payment card numbers.
How long deletion takes
- In-app deletions of individual logs, photos, and catalog items take effect immediately in the app.
- Email requests are completed as soon as we can, typically within 30 days of a verified request.
- Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged within 90 days.
- Emails you send us about the request may be kept only as needed to complete it and meet legal requirements.
